Hey the mosquito buzz is about 40 dB (decibals) just above the dB of a whisper. People under the age of 30 or so can hear these instensity levels pretty clear. People over the age of ~30 can not because basically afterwhile their hearing goes bad and anything under ~100dB (I forget if its 100 or less, probably less) is too low for them to hear. Pretty cool =) lol *****by the way '~' means 'about'

Music covers a area between 60 Hertz (subwoofer) to 5000 Hertz (normal speakers). A normal ringtone is between them because it is a music itself. Only a good musician may hear the lack of harmony created by the mixture of these two. Any sound above 7000 hertz can be easily recognizable. E.g. imagine seeing a movie on tv and knowing that when the tv slightly change color in some areas means your cellphone is ringing. That is the normal ringtone mixed with the music (movie) . Now imagine the same but instead of the slight changes on tv a lamp turning on near the tv. Understand?

Probably the reason that you can still here it over the music is the same as why you can hear the subwoofer from a car going by but not the actual music. The high and low frequency sounds cut through the mid frequency sounds. Thats just my guess
