Look, if we are really debating whether or not someone is going to call your cell if someone died, this is what i say, quit being so damned pessimistic. i mean shit. i am a student, and, though many of my fellow classmates do pay close attention to the teacher, those same students are also in conversation through text. it is not hard to multitask, and it is also very easy to put your phone on silent and set it somewhere you can see it. if you get a text, there is most likely a visible alert on your phone that lets you know this. No need to hear it or feel it. just place it in a visible location. and hell, check it every so often. don’t start a pointless debate with no relevance to anything spitting razor blades at each other. for a bunch of “students” you people are acting a lot like day care toddlers. grow up and get over yourselves.

I really don’t care if I hear someone’s fone go off in class but watev my point is let them have there fun. either they fail for texting in class or they don’t JUST MIND YOUR OWN BUSSINESS AND LEAVE EM ALONE GOD DAMN. nobody gives a damn about the nerd tryin to learn its ONE fone call or ONE text get over it. and don’t say u failed a test cuz a fone was irratating you. don’t blame your mistakes on other ppl. just mind your own bussiness

Actually Lauren, it happened just that way when my Grandfather passed away – I was in the middle of two days of intensive finals exams at uni when it happened (2003, yes, i had a mobile), and my family knowing this didn’t call me until an hour after the last one. You’re dead a long time, and funeral arrangements tend to be slow affairs also. And something that upsetting takes a long time to recover – one person’s already died, my mum, aunt and especially gran are distraught, why fuck up my life chances as well by making me unfit to take an exam? There’s a time and a place. You can survive not knowing Absolutely Everything Immediately As It Happens OMG WAT HE DIED 5 MINS AGO Y DINT U TEL ME STRAIT AWAY? There’s shit happening on a global scale that’s more important that you probably don’t hear about more than once a day, if at all (depending how much attention you pay to current affairs).

I’m hoping the “ur soooo into the fukng lecture you dont find out ur bro died until like 3 days lata” is telegraphing that you’re actually taking the piss, because it worries me to think of you both thinking that, and then writing it in that style for serious.

How much longer would it be, seriously? An hour or two? Leave your phone on, but silenced (& no vibrate) and then check it between lessons, surely an hourly update is sufficient? 10 years ago you may not have found out until the school secretary came in and asked you quietly to come down to the head’s office, or until you got home. Get over yourself and turn the “fukng” thing off during the times at which you’re supposed to be concentrating on other things. Or leave the lesson entirely, have lots of unprotected sex and take your place on the crumbling council house ladder.

Ditto hype, wow, if anyone’s dropping out… crikey.

If its something that important, there are more appropriate ways for notifying you….but in the real world, something that tragic is not likely to happen, we are talking about the norm here, and I as a student do not want to hear anyone elses cell phone ringing, buzzing, or irritating me while i am trying to listen to a lecture that i paid good money for. perhaps one day you will grow out of your childish ways and see that real life does not mean having a cell phone glued to your ear…if your that concerned, drop out of school and go work for a cell phone company full time, there are plenty of those around to support your kind.

I’m curious as to why you think its important that you and your classmates hear a ringing phone during class.. I find it f&cking annoying, when I’m trying to LEARN something, and I hear your damn mosq RT… what the hell can be that important during a LECTURE.
